More info about my trouble to get a right sorting order!

Hi list,

i have told in my earlier email about my trouble to search for any items
and to use the mv_sort_field with success. I have written a little perl
to fetch all items from a field (e.g. title) and to sort this
item-field. I get the same result like the output from minvend.

The reason is, i have replaced all special chars (german umlaut, ", ',
;, etc.) with the "ISO Latin 1 Character HTML-Entity Names"
(ISO8859-1 Latin-1, http://www.sandia.gov/sci_compute/symbols.html),
because i have some title with double quotes. With this char, i get a
broken products database. I have trouble to descript the problem "Using
special chars, without HTML-Entity Names!" in english!

Another fact is, i want to support all Browser with different locale
setting and i have though using the HTML-Entity Names is the right way
for me. And what will be happen, if i have a page with a form tag like

<FORM METHOD="POST" ACTION="http://www.anotherdomain.com/cgi-bin/othershop/datareceive.html">

and a line like

<INPUT TYPE="HIDDEN" NAME="title3" VALUE=""The MV beginner" - Joachim
Leidinger (1964-20??)">

?

The browser post this variable with an empty value!

Any suggestions? Can someone force my eyes to the right points?

Your helps, tips and hints is very apreciate!

Thanks!

Joachim
