Inventory Control

I noticed that the "simple" demo has an inventory database.  It doesn't
seem to write to this database when a product has been sold.

If anyone has some pointers on making an inventory control for the
inventory database, I'd appreciate it if you could e-mail me some
pointers.

I would like to have the pages check the inventory of a particular
product.  If the inventory is 0, display a SOLD OUT or other logo.  And,
how would I write to the correct field when a product has been sold, etc.

Databases have never been my strong point, hehe! :)
