Our inventory is also highly categorized with subcategories. The way I
chose to do it is to simply use a more descriptive category, i.e.: Jewelery
Gold, Jewelery Diamond, Jewelery Gold Engagement, etc.
You can add and delete columns from the products database, so you could add
a subcategory column. Minivend has an intimate relationship with this
database, so you need to read up on the subject in the docs before you
attempt any changes. Once you have added subcategories, you could
structure your [area scan] and [page scan] elements to search them.
With regards to the current trouble you are having, you may want to check
your search forms and [scan] elements to see what field has been specified
for the search.
