Yes, it was all there in the documentation, but those of you that responded
helped out quite a bit by reminding to check this and that.
I had installed MiniVend as root and that was the first problem. There were
all kinds of permissions issues. I ended up creating a dedicated minivend
user, configuring all the permissions correctly and using the tlink file for
the simple catalog cgi instead of vlink.
I've learned a ton just from installing the damn thing. But is it just me or
does anyone else think that the documentation basically sucks? All of the
information is there, but in a kind of terse format that makes it really
tough to skim. You have to really READ it, and while I'm sure some of you
will chastise me for stating what should be the obvious, I think the package
could really benefit from some excellent docs that covered the bases a
little more thoroughly, perhaps with a step-by-step approach. I love Linux
and I really like MiniVend now that I've gotten it up and running, but damn;
if Windows is Kansas then for the last three days I've been a long way from
home with some girl's little damned dog following me everywhere.
