Will Call Checkout

I am having a nasty problem with my fax order choice on the checkout page.
I even copied in the checkout from the simple demo and it gives the same
error "We are having technical difficulties at this time.. blah blah". The
basic error page that you get whenever an order failed. The problem is
that I can't find any error in the logs or anything. 

Anyone have a good way to turn up the debugging or some other tip?
