I just checked two webservers running minivend. The daemon process shows up
in ps with about 12 Megs of mem while idle. It is currently serving 3
catalogs. Additional requirements would depend on the number of childs to
start, the number of catalogs, the number and size (and type) of databases.
About 24 Megs would probably be a reasonable starting point. On a different
system (also at a provider) my limit was 32 Megs, and I would occasionally
have minivend complain "Out of memory". This was a fairly high traffic site
though, and almost all pages were minivend served. MaxServers was pretty
high too.
After a lengthy discussion with the provider I solved the problem by giving
him a 128 MByte module. Try to get as much RAM as possible, if minivend
dies because of lack of RAM it will be while traffic is high, i.e. many
users are connected.
Good luck, Frank
