HTTPS won't work with ISP's Verisign cert.

Hi all.  I am a relatively new user of minivend and I've searched the
archives of the list high and low for an answer to this but can't find
answers though I have found others asking the same question.

My setup:
Perl 5.004
Apache
Minivend 3.14

I've installed the SIMPLE demo and it works fine without SSL. Sent out
email to me and everything...

I've been struggling to get it to work with SSL.

I changed the secureURL parameter in the catalog.cfg file to read:

SecureURL https://commerce5.ba.best.com/~kevhun/index.cgi

The URL of my demo site is

http://www.graphicdesignbooks.com

So I would have thought that this would work. Unfortunately I get a
server error, reported in my catalog error.log as a "undefined catalog
error"

SSL is working on the server and I have accessed it with other
(non-minivend) forms with working action scripts. 

Suggestions? Why might it be telling me my catalog is undefined when
accessed through https but not through vanilla http?

I've been beating my head against the wall.  Do I need to purchase a
certificate?
