MV_Handling doesn't work!

I have tried and tried to no avail. I can get the handling fee to show up on
the checkout page by setting up a shipping mode in the shipping.asc using a
formula @@TOTAL@@ * .035, and adding the tag [shipping handlingcharge] where
I wan't it to show, but it won't add to the [total-cost].

I'm using <input type=hidden name=mv_handling value=handlingcharge> on the
checkout page. I have tried using the perl sub on the checkout page that the
documentation describes. As I indicated, I can show it with [shipping
handlingcharge] but it won't add it to the [total-cost].

Please help me get some sleep!
