New to MiniVend, Looking for some direction

Hello,

I'm new to MiniVend. I've spent about a day and a half trying to configure
MiniVend and have run into many problems, but have been able to solve them
by searching the mailing list archive. I now have some issues that I can't
seem to find answers to. I'm hoping someone out there can direct me in the
right direction.

My main issue is that I can't seem to get the admin program running. I've
got the simple catalog running I can shop, but now I need to administer the
data base and change the items within the data base. I understand that this
is done with the mv_admin. Is this correct? I've also remember reading
something about MiniMate. Now I can't seem to find where I read about
MiniMate. MiniMate is admin program like mv_admin, right? The problem I'm
having with mv_admin is that when I type my url:
http://develop.icsc.org/simple:7786/mv_admin a message on the web browser
pops up that says:

"The document contained no data. Try again later, or contact the servers
administrator."

The error.log shows an error:

- - - [16/August/1999:08:30:52 -0400] - - MiniVend V3.14

kitt.annis.com - minivend [16/August/1999:08:36:21 -0400] _mv_admin
/mv_admin Runtime error: Could not open 'etc/session.lock': Permission
denied

I'm running minivend at nobody, just like our apache web server. The
MiniVend root is located at /net/mvend
I've changed the perms on /net to 777 and /net/mvend to 777 and
/net/mvend/etc to 777 and this error message still comes up and I still
can't get the mv_admin to run.

Here is the begging my catalog.cfg file
