Try Thawte. They are only $125 for the certificate,
and appear to be the second biggest provider, after Verisign.
I've just started the process of getting a certificate
with them. I hope all goes well ;-).
There are browser compatibility issues to be aware of.
Apparently, all the in-browser Verisign certificates expire
next year. Thawte doesn't have this problem, but netscape
3.0 users need to perform a broswer update procedure to
work with Thawte. So I think thawte is the better choice
for the long term. Of course you could get Versign now,
and then switch to Thawte right before the expiration.
BTW, Verio is just a ISP (and a bad one at that), not a
Certificate Authority.
