userdb functions in a link?

I'm trying to encode a plain text link for the userdb logout function (rather than a button). I tried using [page form=...} like this:

[page form="mv_todo=return
            mv_nextpage=index
            mv_username=[value mv_username]
            [userdb function=logout]
           "]Logout[/page]

BUt I discovered, much to my chagrin, that it logs you out as soon as you hit any page with this code in it (or maybe as soon as you click a link from a page with this code, I'm not quite sure). 

Is there a better way to do this?
