This may be a little different than what you want to do, but ...
We administer a minivend server for a client who wanted the order confirmations
to go out with a From: address being that of the person who placed the order.
After looking through the minivend docs and list archives I finally started
"playing around".
The pages/ord/report.html file is used to generate this page. Since I know
sendmail will look in the body of an email address for the From/To, I put
the following line at the head of report.html :
From: [value email]
