Title: Newbie Questions - Return to a search page and [L]

Stil trying to understand why the "Continue Shopping" Button on the Cart page doesn't work. If I do a search that returns multiple pages can I set a variable so that the "Continue Shopping" Button or a link returns to that search page.

What's the [L][/L] tag exactly? I've been looking but haven't found any info.
