permissions problem
Here's what I want to do:
I am trying to use source control to maintain some semblance of order in
my .asc files. The problem I am having is that MV wants to open all the
.asc files for read/write. I don't want it to do that. Only a very few
files should be open with read/write privileges. The source control
system (RCS) by default leave the files read-only.
This is on Linux using MV 3.12 and Apache.
The files are things like country.asc etc. This is very annoying.
Do I have to upgrade to MV 3.14 to get this? I have just barely (i.e.
yesterday!) started to get everything to work. I don't really want to
jump over to 3.14 until I feel like I have a better understanding of MV.
The web site lists the write control under the note about MV 3.14. Does
it work under 3.12 as well? I didn't see anything obvious...
If I "upgrade" to 3.14, what will break? Anyone have any experience they
could share?
Best,
Kyle
