Shipping with named subroutine

Okay, I've got a few questions about this mode.

There is a hash passed with SKU as it's key.  Is there anyway to make it use
something like [item-code]?  In our tables SKU isn't guaranteed unique,
where as [item-code] is.

How do we pass the quantity of an item?  We're doing some manipulation based
on price and it can really only work if we know the total price for the
order...

Our shipping.asc contains a line that looks like this:

shipping	Standard	quantity	1	9999	s calc_shipping weight,price,storeid,quantity

I can access the other items passed in (weight,price,storeid) but not
quantity.

Thanks for any help... (even if it's just which minivend perl module I
should look in...)
