hi,

thanks for the suggestions.
i'm not using cgiwrap and i tried the permissions for simple as u+s and
also 755 with no change in the behavior.
i also remade the simple catalog with no luck.
i then reinstalled minivend and followed the longer installation
process.
when i ran make test i got the following output:


Can't upgrade that kind of scalar during global destruction.

socket link..ok 2

any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
