You can change the variable in the 

[set Check out]
...
[/set]

that you find at the end of the basket.html page for example

to whatever the value of your checkout button ist. E.g.

[set zur Kasse]
...
[/set]

I use a value of "[L]Check out[/L]" for the button and

[set [L]Check out[/L]] ...[/set]

and translate "Check out" to "zur Kasse" in the locale.asc database.
