order.value from sql ?

Hi,

How can I get the order.number out of an SQL Database ?
We wish to hold all our orders in an SQL table, and 
additionaly we wish to put some phone orders in that
table. (trough an Access Application [temporarly Access,
later Tk or an minivend Application]).
We need to have "collison free" order numbers, so how can
I get them from a SQL Table or an sequence ?
It seems that when I disable the OrderCounter in catalog.cfg,
minivend creates some order-id's from session and time.

Has anyone a solution ?
