Shipping dilemma

Hello all -

I am having difficulty setting up custom shipping for our purposes. 

There are two product databases. For products purchased out of the
database products1.(asc/gdbm) we use the quantity of items purchased to
determine shipping costs. For products purchased out of the database
products2.(asc/gdbm) we want to use aggegrate price to determine
shipping costs. I have been able to setup shipping either way, for both
databases, but have been unsuccessful combining the two shipping
paradigms for shopping carts that contain items from both product
databases.

We only ship using the US Postal service.

My questions:

Is this type of shipping setup possible with Minivend?

Does anyone have a snippet of shipping.asc that does something similar?

I am using minivend 3.12 on Redhat Linux (v5.2).
