Error mesg does not give me a clue ...

Hi,
trying to set up my first catalog I probably made some very stupid
mistakes. The problem is that I cannot figure out what they are.
Currently with every access to a MV-served page I get the following
error:

Not only that I have no idea what the problem is, even worse: The mesg
is half German???

First thought was that I misconfigured the mysql databases, but when
switching back to the asc files I get the same error (BTW, I am playing
with the simple demo).

Probably connected with the error may be that scan does not deliver the
correct results. If I change the category of one of the sample items it
is still listed under the old catagory even though displayed with the
new catagory...

I would appreciate any help!
