Minivend needs a products table, whatever it's name or type of database.
That table only really needs code and price (weight if you needed for
shipping calculations) to process orders. Other than that you can have the
rest of the information in 100 different databases, 100 different types of
databases, on 100 different machines. As long as you can get to it using
"code" as your key and make your database and DBI talk you can do whatever
you want.

PS/FYI - I don't specifically understand what you mean by "provide a link
from the results" and "then further in all of minivend's html files."
"Link and "further" aren't used in ways I am familiar with.
