Hmm, if I may add my 0.02 cents of comments here...

I think neither has Cory Tracy spoken hastily, (just
spoken his mind, which I think he is perfectly well allowed to do on this list), nor does Jason Korkin has to tell people what is off-topic and what not.

In addition neither Jason Korkin has done anything
shifty or questionable in writing and selling his commercial product, nor is the whole discussion relevant. One person voices his moral opinion towards helping to support a GNU project Mike Heins has initiated, the other about his legal rights to write plug-in modules.

As I learned from Mike Heins, I do read the archives
and docs and if you would do too, you would find that
Mike Heins himself did answer this question quite
nicely and clearly on this list. Happy searching.

On top of this, I like to mention that

1. MaxiVend is a nice product and very well worth
becoming a customer of MiniVend (you did not
think I would miss that good an opportunity to play
   MiniVend fan, do you 8-))

2. Concerning any legal twylight zones, when a plug-in
is considered a separate unit of code not bound to
the MiniVend license and when it uses too much of
the existing MiniVend code, so that it might viewed as a module not viable without MiniVend and as such
the question of being sellable code has to be
examined, is certainly an interesting case for a lawyer to decide on that, but surely isn't worth paying a lawyer for to find out. 8-)

You might all be aware that, legally, the only person who is perfectly well allowed to change the license of any upcoming versions of MiniVend is Mike Heins.

Are you sure your commercial versions will work with
the future releases ? Is it worth the trouble
NOT to support Mike Heins' steadfast commitment to
his own open source code project and GPL license ?

I would think the only person allowed to tell me
to take this subject off the list is Mike Heins.

So, I am waiting to hear Zeus' anger thundering
   down the Olymp. 8-)

Oh Kassandra tell us, if silence is Zeus' answer,
is it the silence before the storm or his benevolent
yawn of boredom he feels us earthlings quarreling about such trivialities . 8-)

You gurus out there, if you have something which
can handle administration of 500 000 record product.
asc files via the Web in less than hour of
   processing time, let me hear.
Just that you know I will immediately forward such nice thing to Mike Heins to give him a chance to have a look at your wonderful code, the way he had given you all a chance to look at his.

Have a good day you all.. and
   Cheers.

having had a beer, at least one. Are you all
forgiving me having had two ?.... Prost).
