searching gdbm

hi,
I am trying to use the search form to search
userdb.gdbm because data is constantly changing. Keep
exporting it is not practical to userdb.asc
the doc said search function searchs the asc format
file.
how do use search [process-search] a gdbm file?
maybe mysql?
