Solution: Shipping UPS to Alaska/Hawaii ?

Hello everyone,

Tim, I am new to minivend and it took me a while just to get the UPS Ground, Blue, and Red to work right. Could you explain in a bit more detail exactly how you accomplished this? The AK and HI shipping has been eluding me. I run Minivend 3.08 and I do not have a country.asc file. I looked it up in the docs and the only time country.asc is mentioned is in the memory only database. Is that what you are doing? And, if I need a country.asc, where does it go?

Also, you mention to put the perl code thing in ord/basket.html and remove any $0.00 from the basket. I do not have the shipping choices, nor do I show shipping in basket.html but in checkout.html instead. I also would like more detail on exactly where the perl thing goes. Could you maybe show yours entirely, including the possible shipping choices it affects? (Only code that pertains to shipping, but all of the shipping code. Not just the perl thing to be added)

And, you mention 999.csv, but point to 960.csv in the shipping.asc and I am wondering exactly how that works. Can you point to any file? Along that same line, your 960.csv contains the data structure that I call ups_zone.csv and have configured in the catalog.cfg file as the ups zone file. Are you trying to define a whole new ups_zone file via some trick, or is this a "legal" function in minivend?

Finally, my ver of minivend does use the csv files from UPS, but will not recognize anything bu the first 3 characters in the zip code. I even tried by inputting the full zip and checking to see if it would recognize it. It does not. This is most confusing. I know that I am new, but as soon as I think I am starting to understand something, I suddenly feel lost. Any help you could provide would be much appreciated.

If you need info on how I have mine setup exactly, I can provide.
