MV3.12: Do I NEED MySQL?
As I mentioned earlier I have a large database (and It will be larger)
of 99,916 items. I can build and manipulate these databases with Lotus
Approach and produce a products.asc file that adheres to the
current(simple.cat) format. I tried doing that and the catalog tried to
load (I guess). I let it try for about 7 minutes. Then the thing just
locked up and I had to close the browser window to clear it. It was at
that point that I figured that I need SQL.I want to know if I really
NEED an SQL server to use Minivend with a DB of this size. I have read
the (very skimpy) instructions regarding MiniVend and SQL servers and it
seems to me that MV actually imports the database into its internal DB
manager anyway. Regardless of where they are generated from. Is that
correct? If that is the case then I don't see the need for SQL in my
setup. I only have 3 fields in my MV DB anyway: code description ,
price.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
