30'000 products DB very slow on good server

Hello all !

I've been following your mailing-list for quite a long time and have been
enjoying &#138; but it's only the first time I'm writing into it !

My problem is the following :

I'm running MiniVend 3.11 on a brand new PC server. It's configuration is 2
x Pentium II/400 mhz with 512mb RAM and with 2 x Quantum Ultra2 Wide SCSI
9.1 GB hard on a ICP-Vortex PCI Raid card (with 128 mb RAM controller).
I'm using RedHat Linux 5.2 and Apache 1.3.6 with SSL & FrontPage 98 extensions.

The problem is the 30'000 products database is very slow (you have to wait
2 to 30 sec depending your request). The database is actually not so big
(only 3 megabytes size).

Which should I go ?  Is MiniSQL the solution ?  Isn't it possible to run
this database efficiently the standard way on MV ?
