No subtotals showing in basket or checkout

Well minivend 3.12 is sweet.
Only thing is I am not getting any info into the subtotal area.
Running redhat 5.2
Code [item-subtotal] is there so is [subtotal]. But what is displayed is
$0.00.
This wont work.
It does not come up in basket.html or checkout.html
All help welcome.
