multiple product tables

I'm sure I've seen this question before, but the minivend.com glimpse
search is currently down, so I am seeking answers from the List...
If I have a separate table called services, how does a customer order an
item from this table? The [order [item-code]]Service[/order] tags do not
recognize anything from the service table. I would like to use the same
shopping cart throughout the site.
Anyone?
