Simple category -> subcategory pages

Gang,
I'm trying to create a simple category -> subcategory drill down
(categories on home page, click to see list of all subcategories under that
category).
The categories come up fine, but clicking on the subcategory
link generates "No searchpage '' found".
What am I doing wrong?
