the apache documentation is pretty clear on this. you can assign an alias to
any folder, so that when an httpd request for www.yourdomain.com/alias comes
in, the server looks in the assigned location, like this:

alias /somewhere  "/usr/local/somewhere"

that's all there is to it. Look at the httpd.conf verbage on ScriptAlias for
CGI and stuff, it works the same way, but tells the server where CGI
scripts, Frontpage crapola and stuff can be run from.

NOTE: I am posting solutions here, instead of having private conversations.
