Personally I think the minivend way would be to use a modifier, that makes
the option available to everybody regardless of javascript
incompatibilities.
Otherwise you may get the number of tapes correctly, but would still need a
recalc for the prices to display correctly, in addition you would have to
make sure the basket content is updated, regardless how a user leaves it.
(otherwise minivend would never find out about the changes in quantity)
If you insist on doing this with javascript, there are a few javascript
based shopping carts out there, from which you could borrow. A good
