Using templates, or just create pages...?

Hi...

As I sat here trying to create several new templates it occurs to
me that it would be easier just to create the pages (not html, but
the ones created and placed in the catalogs directory) instead of 
the templates.

So, if you have no intentions of reusing the design (the catalog
page lay out) for different catalogs, is there a good reason to take
the longer road and create a template just to create one copy of
the final catalog pages?
