OK.. well, first make sure that the minivend.cfg file contains this
statement:
Variable   MV_NO_CRYPT   0
AdminUser user:"password" <-- the password section should be encrypted .. I
just copied the password from my passwd.httpd file for the user I wanted to
admin the MiniVend, and then modified the $MVEND-HOME/admin/catalog.cfg file
to reflect the same user and password from the minivend.cfg file.. tada!
Goto http://www.yoursite.com:7786 and login.

Hope that was useful to someone.. or perhaps I just missed all that
"obvious" stuff in the docs, hehe :/
