3.12 and UserDB on Linux

I'm trying to make a call using function=save and everytime, it causes
MV to space out into a CPU loop.  It never comes back and top shows perl
snagging 99% of the CPU until I kill it.  I know this isn't a lot to go
on, but I don't know what else would be useful to provide...
