Combining search, results, and basket on one page.
****** message to minivend-users from Ceres <jfrye@ehg.net> ******
Hello Everyone,
I have a project where the customer wants a streamlined ordering
process. Basically, they feel that browsing an online catalog doesn't
fit their business model of business to business selling. They have a
print catalog/price list which they believe is better for browsing and
offers higher quality text and graphics.
The result of this is I'm thinking of using a single page that will act
as search interface, results page, and basket page. This will allow the
user to input a product code from the print catalog as search of
products.asc, return results for confirmation, then allows them to add
item to order displaying it in the basket; repeating the process for
each additional item.
My initial design idea is to simply stack basic search, results, and
basket functions on a page having it return itself after each submit.
Has anyone had experience with a scenario like this? Does anyone see
pitfalls to a page built this way? And probably most importantly; does
anyone have a better idea?
Thanks in advance
