Fixed: IE4 causing "Difficulty interacting with browser"

****** message to minivend-users from "Walt Lillyman, NTBO, Inc.: http://www.ntbo.com" <waltl@ntbo.com> ******

I'm posting this solution because I didn't read a good description of the
fix for this error in catalog/error.log, (and I _did_ search the archive!):

"visitor.ip.address SessionID:ip.address - [02/February/1999:21:25:26 -0600]
catalog /cgi-bin/catalog/process Difficulty interacting with browser:
Request method 'GET' for form submission is not POST"

This applies (at least) to MiniVend 3.11 on Linux RedHat v5.2 for Intel,
Apache/1.3.4 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.1.8 SSLeay/0.9.0b.

In my case, when the browser was MS IE4.01SP1, and the user proceeded to the
first secure page (clicked "Check out" on basket.html), the symptom was the
MiniVend "black screen of death", special/interact.html.

My first attempt at a fix was to follow the directions in
http://www.minivend.com/minivend/faq/06.10.Difficulty_interacting_with_brow.html
which I interpreted to mean:
1. Set "TolerateGet Yes" in minivend.cfg.
2. Add
   <INPUT TYPE="hidden" NAME="mv_session_id" VALUE="[data session id]">
to my problem form, (I already had it there from simple's ord/basket.html).
3. Change my problem form's METHOD from POST to GET.
4. Restart minivend.

That caused the visitor's basket to be empty upon arrival at the secure form,
for both IE4 and Netscape Communicator 4.5. That won't do.

So, on a whim, I undid step 3, (changing my form's METHOD back to POST),
and voila, IE4 and NC4.5 successfully traverse into the secure checkout page,
basket intact, no black interact.html page.

I dunno if something else came into play, but it works.

Incidentally, my store is live at
http://www.showmeblinds.com
(secure certificate from Verisign pending; accept our self-issued one for now.)

Fill out an order with your favorite dummy credit card number, and a customer
name of "test", and I promise we won't send you any window blinds!
