Building on Christopher's method, you can do:

Sort by: [page href="scan/mp=1/se=[value mv_searchspec]/tf=category]category[/page]

Where tf sets the field you want to sort by. You can specify sort options with to=
So to reverse the search, use:

Sort by: [page href="scan/mp=1/se=[value mv_searchspec]/tf=category/to=r"]category reversed[/page]
