OK.. I manipulated the line 'mv_seperate_items VALUE=1'
I changed the value to ZERO and now it is not happening.
My current setting in the catalog.cfg is 'seperateItems NO'

I guess I overlooked the VALUE. Your TIP put me on the right track and
now I understand the mechanism. The variable 'process-order' appears
to carry the information to the basket.
