Excel->Text conversion

Does anybody out there have a good MS Excel->Text parsing program (one
that fixes all the crap that Excel does to a spreadsheet when saving as
text)?

Since I have to take a client's Excel sheet, save it as text, and then
import it into mSQL, all sorts bad things happen if I miss one of Excel's
stupid quirks (and I can't use the EXCEL flag, as far as I know, since I'm
not using ascii databases)
