MySQL Indices / Updating Question
****** message to minivend-users from Jeff <jeff@ddda.com> ******
Howdy all!
First, I want to say that I've implemented Minivend on a client's site and
it's been working FABULOUSLY! (knock wood :-)
I've got one strange behavior though, and I've read through ALL of the
docs, search the Minivend Users archive, read through the entire
catalog.cfg and minivend.cfg, and I can't figure this out.
I'm using MySQL for my products DB. I went into MySQL and added a new
product, with the category "Bags". Then I did a "/scan/mp=0/se=Bags", and
it didn't display the new product.
So I thought I had mistyped the category. When I went to "/browse", the
new product showed up grouped with all of the other "Bags". So this tells
me that the category was correct.
Then I checked to see if the results page was cached. To do this, I
changed the descriptive text in MySQL on one of the Bags. Went back to
"/scan/mp=0/se=Bags" and the changed descriptive text was indeed
displayed. So this tells me that the page is indeed dynamic, which rules
out cacheing issues.
Next, I restarted Minivend, thinking that perhaps it had somehow
"memorized" or indexes the SKUs that were in category "Bags". Didn't
help.
Next, I did a UNIX "touch" on the products.sql file and restarted
Minivend, thinking this would get MV to re-examine the database and
"re-memorize" the index mentioned in the previous paragraph. Didn't help.
Next, (grasping at straws) I did a "touch" on products.asc and restarted
MV. Didn't help.
Next, I deleted "products.sql" and restarted, which reimported the
database to MySQL (as expected) and blew away my new product (as
expected). I knew this wouldn't work, but figured "what the hell... I've
tried everything else"...
Folks, I think I've tried EVERYTHING here! I'd really like to avoid
having to modify "products.asc", delete "products.asc", and then restart
MV every time I want to add a new product. And at this point my client
can't afford
I'm sure there's some way to get MV to re-index the categories, but I
cannot for the life of me figure it out.
If anyone can help (Mike???), I'd really appreciate it. Certainly someone
has figured this out (or maybe it's on page 1 of the manual and I'm just a
COMPLETE LUNATIC and can't find it).
Please respond to "jeff@ddda.com" or "jdibart@ddda.com".
Thanks y'all!
