Multiple Catalog Users - Clarification

I have set up one catalog and it runs GREAT.  Now I need to set up another
catalog on the same server to be used by a different user.  I set the
catalog up for user2 just fine, the demo catalog appears but it appears that
user2 cannot access the minivend program.  The minivend program is installed
under /home/user1/mvend.  User1 is who the program was initially installed
for.

I am not sure if I need to reinstall minivend into it's own subdirectory or
if I have mis-specified something under the permtype option during the
/makecat process.  I don't understand the difference between the M and G
options.  In my case, user1 and user2 are both members of the group "site"
and the minivend process is started by user1.

Under option G of permtype, if a user is in the same group as the minivend
user (in my case user1) is this sufficient to give additional users to the
minivend program?

I know this is a low level question, but I appear to have "stupided" myself
into a corner.  Any help is much appreciated,
